Handy keyboard shortcuts and DOS commands in Boxer.

This user guide is for Boxer 0.88 and below and does not apply to later versions. Boxer 1.0 and above have built-in help: access it from the Help Menu while playing.

Keyboard Shortcuts

⌘F: Toggle full-screen mode
⌥click: Lock/unlock mouse (prevents the cursor from leaving the window)
⌘click: Imitate a right-button mouse click (if you have a one-button mouse)
⌘W: Close window

Controlling game speed:

⌘⇡: Increase CPU speed (if game runs too slow)
⌘⇣: Decrease CPU speed (if game runs too fast)
⌘⇢: “Turbo mode” while held down
⌥⌘⇡: Increase frame-skipping (if emulation is jerky)
⌥⌘⇣: Decrease frame-skipping

Advanced:

⌘S: Save a screenshot to your desktop
⌘⌥S: Start/stop recording a movie to your desktop
⌘R: Refresh DOS folders (if you add files to a folder while DOS is running)
⌘K: Bring up the keyboard mapper

DOS commands

Along with the standard DOSBox commands, Boxer includes some new commands to make life at the DOS prompt more bearable:

commands: List Boxer’s basic DOS commands.
keys: List Boxer’s keyboard shortcuts.
drives: List the currently-available DOS drives.
programs: List the executable programs in your current directory.

locate [filename]: Find the specified file, wherever it may be.
launch [program]: Run the specified program from any directory.
edit [filename]: Open the specified file in a text editor.

network: Start or join an IPX network.
restart: Relaunch the game or DOS session.
quit: Close the DOS window.
